Scripture
"We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power, so you will have all the endurance and patience you need" - Colossians 1:11a

Observation
God's power in our lives leads to endurance and patience. Interesting - "power" is not so much about triumph as it is about bearing up. What a different way of thinking about power than we generally do in America! Of course, for most of the last two thousand years the Bible has been read by people being persecuted and on the margins.

Application
I should pray for God's power precisely in those places in my life where I am most weak, not where I desire to be "triumphant".

Prayer
God, thanks for this new insight for me! Your power is not about my victories or accomplishments but about my weakness. Grant me power where I fail, where I am in need, and where I am tempted. Amen.
