Weekend Preview: When Dreams Can’t Come True

Friday, October 25, 2013

How many of us have can identify with the statement, “Sometimes things don’t go as planned”? Yeah, we all have experienced that. Just when you think you have everything worked out – you have a vision, you have a plan, you have goals; something comes from nowhere and changes everything.

Sometimes it is funny. In fact some of your funniest stories in life are about some unexpected turn of events. Maybe they were not funny at the time, but you laugh at them now. But sometimes they are not that funny. It's not funny when a dream you had for your marriage, your future, your children, your career, or your finances are shattered. It is a terrible feeling when you wake up one day and realize that everything you have been working towards is NOT going to come true. Not only is it not coming true, but in fact it CAN’T come true.

Most of us have lived long enough to have it dawn on you that some plan, goal, or dream for our life is not going to happen. It can be really difficult, especially if we feel as God has promised us certain things. And when it becomes clear that it isn’t going to happen, it can be tough to maintain hope and faith.

This weekend we are going to look at an incredibly fascinating story from the life of David. Where he comes to the realization that his future dreams and desires are not going to happen; in fact, they CAN’T happen. And in the midst of overwhelming despair, he does something. Something, that if we do do the same, will allow us to experience God at a level that maybe we have never experienced Him before.

So, this weekend at Next Level, we are going to answer the the question, “What am I supposed to do when my dreams can’t come true?” I hope to see you there.
