Top 3 Reasons Why I Love FUEL

Friday, August 26, 2011
FUEL is this coming Sunday night at Next Level Church at 6pm. I have to admit that I really, really enjoy going, and that's not a pastor thing, that's a Jared thing. So, here are the top three reasons why.

1. Communion - There is something about participating in communion, about following Jesus' words to the letter, about standing in a line of tradition 2,000 years old, that I simply love. The longer I'm alive the more the gospel bowls be over, and communion brings the gospel to you in a way that you can taste, smell, and touch. When communion is done right, every time you smell wine or taste plain bread you think, just for an instant, about God's crazy, reckless grace.

2. The Music - FUEL has an extended time of worship. And I think of myself as a music freak. I was greatly humbled by my friend Cory Wing in East 74 diner the other day with his encyclopedic knowledge of 80's music, but it doesn't matter I still love music. Music brings emotion together with the mind in a way that is utterly unique.

3. Todd's Heart - Confession time, I love working for Pastor Todd. And I say that knowing full well that there's not a chance that saying that will get me a raise. And part of the reason why I love working for him is that his passion never, ever waivers. And at FUEL it's a chance to hear from Todd, straight from his heart and his passion. And despite what Samuel Donahue said on the Need to Know video last Sunday there is not an "extended time of teaching." There is actually a shortened time of teaching. So bonus there, too.

Sunday night at 6pm. I'll be there. Hope to see you there.
