A Legendary Five Weeks

I love my job. Seriously. How many church worship pastors get to play, in five consecutive weeks, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, and U2? My guess is, not too many.

It was a really great series, Legendary. I truly hope it was a memorable one for the people of Next Level, not just because it had great music, but because there were some amazing teachings and some great lessons to be learned. You've GOT to check out the podcasts, or listen on nextlevelchurch.org ...

The music, though, man... was it fun. It is cool to think that church an be a place that's not stuffy, pretentious, and judgmental, but a place where you can just have a good time and learn about taking the next step in your relationship with God at the same time. Maybe hearing a band play an Aerosmith song at church will help some people see that we don't take ourselves too seriously. And I think our band did a great job of playing every song that we asked them to play.

Here is the thing you have to understand; our band has only one professional musician, the church worship pastor. Other than that, every one of those guys and girls are regular people with regular jobs who love to play music, and they do a fine job of it. I am as proud of them as many of you are impressed.

So those are my scattered thoughts on the Legendary series. I hope we get to do something like it again soon. And when that opportunity comes, I can guarantee you that your amazing and talented Next Level Church band will leave you standing and clapping, and more than that, pointing you towards a God who cares about you and wants you to figure out more of who He is. If it helps that process to play some disarming classic rock... I guess we can make that happen...
