Xtreme Home Makeover!

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Alright Next Level, it's almost here!  In just 2 days, we will begin transforming the house of a single mom who is an active duty Navy Officer in an intense weekend of activity, April 24-26.

The makeover, which is part of the Give:Love Project, is challenging both skilled and unskilled laborers to come out and help transform the home for Tamara Jacobs, whose household includes her  six and nine year old daughters, her younger sister, and her six month old nephew.  Ms. Jacobs, returned from active duty when her mother, who helped to care for her children, took ill.  Her mother has since passed away and now Ms. Jacobs leads a large household with limited resources.

While we all are working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the Jacobs family will be enjoying a fun and relaxing weekend, provided by the church, local businesses, and YOU! The weekend will culminate in a “reveal” moment, when the family will see their remodeled home for the first time at 6 PM, Sunday the 26th.  If nothing else, make sure you are there for this moment!  The home is located at 403 Alda Drive in Monroe, NC.

Just like Pastor Todd said, "This Home Makeover is just part of the Give:Love Project, which reflects our commitment to love our community in the same way Jesus Christ has loved us.  Our overall goal is to transform the spiritual landscape of Charlotte, and one of the key parts of this is through direct acts of mercy and love.”

The project is under the leadership of Melissa Jackson, the Next Level staff member who oversees the Give:Love Project. Give:Love has included a previous Home Makeover as well as providing Christmas gifts for more than five hundred children at Rock Rest Elementary, a Title I school in Monroe.
